Are you in the process of building or remodeling your home? Maybe your refitting your office with needed structural updates. If either of these apply to your situation, then keep reading as I explain why this is the perfect time to finally install that surveillance system you've always wanted.
When installing a surveillance system there are 3 main categories to the install. These categories include the cable runs and installation, the camera installation and adjustment, and the DVR setup and hookup phase. For now we will cover the 3 main phases and how they can be done faster during a home or business construction project.
Phase 1 - Cable Runs & Installation
This phase is usually the most time consuming and annoying to complete. When a surveillance installer runs cctv cabling, it normally involves drilling holes in your walls or ceilings. Then they will spend hours fishing those cables through the walls to the DVR from the cameras locations.
If you are remodeling your walls or ceilings then most likely you will have a much more uninhibited route to run your cables. In this circumstance you may be able to run the cables yourself if you know where they need to go, or you can still have your installer do it for you. Ultimately this will save you money either way. The reason is because surveillance installers generally charges on an hourly basis, and the more time you save, the more money you save.
Additionally if you already have a contractor, you may be able to have them run the cables for you instead, which depending on what they're charging you, it could also save you money.
Phase 2 - Camera Installation & Adjustment
This phase is rather self explanatory as it is the phase were you mount and adjust your security cameras to your desired viewing location. Installing security cameras when remodeling your facilities is quite a benefit as it allows you more room to adjust their locations. The reason for this is that you can temporarily mount the cameras in various locations until you find a permanent place for them. This is of extreme benefit because this way you aren't creating excessive holes or mounting cuts in brand new surfaces.
Since you will at this point have your cables run to the camera locations, you can most likely mount the cameras yourself, or have your contractor do it to further help save time and money on the install.
Phase 3 - DVR Setup & Hookup
The final "Main Phase" is when you finally hook everything up. This is when you take the time to hook your cameras up to your cables, install any accessories, and go through the DVR setup. This is the phase that you will most likely want a surveillance installers help if you don't feel technologically up to the challenge. This of course will all depend on the sophistication and size of your surveillance system.
The reason this phase is easier to accomplish with open walls and ceilings is mainly when it comes to troubleshooting. If there happens to be a break in a cable or any other form of problem with the system it can more easily be diagnosed and corrected with complete access to all parts of the system.
Furthermore if you or your installer feel it would be beneficial to hide some of the cctv components in the ceiling, walls, or whatever, this would be a great time to accomplish that before they are sealed.
In the end the main point to all of this is that installing a surveillance system becomes much easier when your home or business is under construction. The time it can save by having less hassle to deal with by your installer or yourself is of great savings to your project. This point is just as true when it comes to television, multimedia, or network systems as well.
